The number of people using smart phones has risen dramatically over the last couple of years. It will likely not be too far in the future when regular cell phones have been replaced completely by smart phones.

Apple are brilliant marketers and when the iPhone came out they really promoted it heavily. A lot of people bought smart phones because of all the hype even though they had little use for most of the features. In fact most people don't even know how to use the majority of the features on their smart phone. Nevertheless it is the latest and greatest so people are buying them in large numbers and for the most part using them like regular cell phones.
